The scubapro mk17 or the apex ds4 xtx50. which is cheaper for a doubles setup, and easier to get serviced. which one do you prefer or even use. any advantages or disadvantages. mainly for cold northeastern use, and travel to foreign places. any special details bfeore buuying i should know

My wife put 300 dives on a Mk 17 with s550 2nd and constantly complained about diving deeper than 18m or so. Finally she took one of our alternates (an Aqualung Legend) for a deep dive and after the dive promptly claimed it as her own. For her, no more 17.

After i tryed a couple regs...
Poseidon Xstream.....it cost a little more....BUT
I NEVER gonna use something else!!!!! It's amazing

Have never trie3d the MK17 only the MK25. But have used the Apeks XTX 200 & FSR with the XTX 50 Octo and loved it.

Using the MH25 / S600 here and loving it.......No complaints

Without getting into which is better, since I do not own either, the last thing I would worry about when setting up doubles regs is which one is cheaper. Get the best reg you can afford that is envrionmentally sealed and performs well. If cost and service is the determining factor( since any reg is easy to service for a competent tech) it may behoove you to postpone going to doubles. Going for cost can get you in a bit of trouble when you least need it.
