Hi Just saying hello. The reason I'm joining is I will be doing the Great Loop next year by sailboat and I would like to dive along the way. We will be going up the ICW from April to Fall 09 so anyone willing to show me a wreck or two!! Thanks and its great site cheers Titch :eyebrow:

Welcome to :sblogo: divertitch. You are amongst friends now and I am sure you will learn a lot and judging by your dive count, you will share a lot of wisdom as well.

For a non-sailor, what is "The Great Loop"? Around the world?

Shame on you ....The Great Loop is when people with nothing better to do sail up the ICW to Newyork turn left up some river to the Lakes, go west a while and cut down the Mississippi back to warm water and sun...and it only takes a year or so. Think of all the dive sites!!!

Well, I am only 45 minutes from Lake Ontario so just pick me up along the way :D. I bet that would be a pretty incredible tour. Thanks for the explanation. Maybe I will have to take up sailing after all.

Well if you make it to the Chicago area...or in the lower part of Lake Michigan...let me know...I'm always up for a dive.

This could be good but I warn you, you may just get a call one day. The other thing I bring to the table is a Burton M1 Side scan Sonar not the biggest or the best but it does find things. Look it up on the web!!! Thanks for the replies guys.

You have got to dive the ST. Peter near Sodus Point NY. You will be passing over all sports of wrecks and dive sites in the St. Lawrence. What kind of schedule are you shooting for? You don't want to winter in the Great Lakes....

Welcome Divertitch! I'm new too. My husband and I are taking a year off to travel the world come June (although not sailing). Your plan sounds wonderful! Best of luck.

welcome aboard
