Hey everyone. I'm David from Southern California. My g/f and I just started AOW last week and make the first dive of the class (a night dive) this weekend. I got certified just about a year ago, but haven't made any dives after certification. I'm not comfortable enough being in the water with just the g/f and I yet. I'm hoping this class can help relieve some of that anxiety.

Most of the time I can be found at home, brewing my own beer and just hanging out with my girlfriend or my buddies.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings. See you all in the water (I hope!).

Welcome to you and your girlfriend David. Where in SoCal are you? You should visit the SoCal forums. Tons of good people and lots of great info there.

Also check out the Beach Crabs and other clubs and groups. There are lots of people here that would be happy to dive locally with you to show you the ropes. We dive the Catalina Casino Dive park frequently and would love to show you around.

Thank you for the welcome. We're from the inland empire, specifically Colton and San Bernardino. I've browsed the SoCal forums, but there is just some much info on this site, I'm having a hard time digesting it all. It is nice to read some stories of others that seemed to have had much the same issues diving as I do. Their success stories and the fact that they're still diving gives me a fuzzy feeling inside.:11:

As for the crabs, well, that's something I try to avoid :D Seriously though, thank you for the information and I'll take a look at it. There certainly doesn't seem to be a shortage of dive clubs in So Cal, that's for sure.

Welcome to the board - from a Cali native transplanted to the left coast

Welcome! I dive with the Beach Crabs often. One of my good dive buddies is also a Beach Crab from Riverside.Come check out one of our dives if you ever feel up to it.I'd bet that your anxiety dies down after a few dives and you'll be itching to get more bottom time.Good luck.

Welcome to the 'board!!!!!

Yeah, another IE diver!!! The best way to learn and get comfortable in the water, is to get in the water..... Hang around here and you'll never have an excuse not to dive. And yes, do free free to join in the fun.
