Just saying "Hi" to the group.

I've been in DC for two years. Got my OW in Belize just before moving and have only done a handful dives since then. So I'm definately a newbie but itching to do more.

I may give Lake Rawlings a check one of these days, but will probably head to points south for my salt water. I kind of feel that I need to increase my skills before I subject myself to the temps, currents and low viz of the mid Atlantic.

Nevertheless, I'm interested to hear what the options are and want to keep informed of any trips being organized.

Cheers

Welcome aboard!

Welcoem to the board and the area....if you do not want to goto Rawlings..there is always Millbrook..good dive area to test items and skills..not much to do..I consider it my test bed..when I get new gear or need to practice some skills I go there...great place to get used to low viz, temp, etc...has all that..LOL!!

Once again..welcome aboard

Where in Belize did you get your OW?
I got mine on Ambergris through Amigos Del Mar, they were awesome.

I did my OW with Paradise Down on Caye Caulker. My instructor was named Cecilia. She was pretty good. Not a pushover, though I had the usual complaint of having a dumb hungover guy in my class who passed anyway. I did a few other dives with Paradise Down and I was happy that they were really strict about keeping people off the coral and not letting anyone harass the wildlife. That's one of my biggest divinig pet peeves.

I loved Caye Caulker. It just had a great laid back vibe without the sprawl. I can't wait to go back.

Oh yea I did a snorkeling trip with my parents and we stopped on Caulker for lunch.

That's great that they're strict about the coral - I really hate seeing leaders let their divers and snorkelers mess around with it. It's even worse when they're foreign and don't speak English, so when *you* try to tell them, you can't.
