Thanks of the advice. (If you want to skip my ear crap and read more about Roatan, skip ahead a paragraph or two
Basically after the last dive one day I surfaced with a full feeling in one ear; the next morning it was gone and I dove again; surfaced with it again but it wasn't bad, so stupidly I dove again an hour later. That dive I had problems equalizing and surfaced with fullness and pain. After an hour or so the pain went away but the fullness remains a day later although its definitely lessening gradually. No more dives for me anyways, flying tomorrow.
Dunno what caused it; I'm thinking I wasn't equalizing enough on my initial descents perhaps. Still new at this! DM thought it was a reverse block.
Well if the fullness isn't totally gone in a couple of days I'll see a doctor.
Anyways I've definitely enjoyed Roatan. I rented a scooter today from captain vans.
45 bucks a day is a great deal. Drove all over. Checked out Fantasy Island. Obviously I didn't see inside the rooms but I was impressed, it looked really nice.
Also went to the mainland side of Barefoot Caye. It looked ok; but the shore side of it (the channel is barely 20 feet wide) is pretty yucky...quite industrial...I know they have no control over that and the caye itself looked nice; but its a small caye and the ugly mainland shore took away a lot of the charm for me.
Tourqoise Bay near Punta Gorda is beautiful. Had a great 'island burger' at a restaurant overlooking it thats run by expats (like a lot of businesses here).
Noticed there was a diving resort there (Turqoise Bay diving resort - you'd never guess the name eh) but didn't have a chance to check it out. Gonna look it up because that bay looked incredible. Huge swath of turqoise water right offshore (miles long) with the reef edging it on the outer side maybe 1000 feet offshore.
Ok, time to go to the cannibal cafe for some fajitas! Bye from Roatan...
