I took a day trip with a co-worker of mine down to Gilboa on Monday. After coming back from the M&G and telling him about the place he really wanted to go so we made the 3 1/2 hour trek down there for the day. Even with only having been there two months ago, Mike had made some vast improvements on the shop and it is really shaping up nicely.
Compared to April, the visibility was not as good. With the recent rains and Mike saying there were many new students there recently it was pretty stirred up. We did three tanks while we were down there. It was pretty exciting for me because this was my first time leading somebody else underwater and showing off the place myself . My buddy John really liked the place. I took him around to all the sites and he got to see how cold it still is when you get down to 60 feet. We had 43 degrees. I did get to see for myself this time the enchanted forest and now see what makes it enchanted. There was an eerie fog stream through the area which was pretty cool. Didn't really come out good in the pictures though.
Besides a family of four we were the only people diving there on monday. That family though was really luck and had some amazing photos and video of the paddle fish. Some of the best photos Mike says he had seen.
Well thats all for now.... I'm supposed to be going up to Fremont Lake tomorrow evening just east of Muskegon. It's my first time meeting up with a group called sea hunt dive club so I'll be posting some info about that dive soon. I also have some pics posted on my facebook account of this trip to Gilboa if anybody is interested. You do not need an account just to view the pics.
