I find it similar to the psychological block I had the first couple times I descended on scuba. 40 years of surviving by not breathing under water was working in my subconcious against my concious decision to breath the air comming out of my regulator. After a few seconds my concious mind won the battle.

Wait now.... you guys have can confused me. (and made me need to pee...)
Anyway, why would you say that the inside of your suit gets rinsed out (and whatever fluid you might have added with it) during a dive? Unless its a shorty and you can just pull the leg open a bit. My suit is a 7 mm semi-dry: the whole point being the water comes in and then STAYS there to provide insulaton when it gets warmed up to body temp. I confess "giving in" in my first year of diving, but since I understood that by doing so I'm stuck in my own ..ahem... for however long the dive lasts, I now resist the urge. :talktothehand:

It's not a dry suit. There's no such thing as a SEMI-dry anything. And if water got IN the suit when you jumped in, it'll continue to get IN the suit while you dive, which means some water has to leave the suit.

low-turnover wetsuit doesn't have the same ring as semi-dry.:crafty:

Sorry, Clammy, but of course there is. Just google "semi-dry wetsuit". Check Wikipedia, dive shops.......
Here is a quote about a suit of this type, a leading brand's "Extreme Semi-Dry Wetsuit" : "unique wrist, ankle and facial sealing systems allow just enough water to enter to be used as an insulating layer." The water does not circulate within the suit, thats the whole point. It comes in and stays there.

Take your "semi" dry suit roll it up with arms, legs, and neck out of the water, shove some paper in the core, and dunk it in a tub of water for awhile. When you pull it out, tell me if the paper is "semi" dry. The point is LOW circulation of water, but it still circulates. Whether from going through the suit or the neck, wrists, or feet.

Well I have to be honest I have no problem peeing in the wetsuit. It most be that I did it in my bed until I was 10:D

I have to admit the thought of peeing in my wetsuit makes me feel very uncomfortable!!

After our first ow dive the instructor asked who had pee'd in their suits. I turned to hubby and said "I'm buying my own suit today!!" It hadn't occured to me that anyone pees in their suits. However I now know its ok, but I still can't and would rather not!!

I know people will refuse to believe - but I've never peed in my wetsuit. Never wanted to - esp. now that I have a nice new wetsuit (: I definitely don't want to pee in my drysuit. I just avoid drinking any soda, tea, etc. I drink water - but my body is dehydrated, so it keeps it rather than getting rid of it.

If you wanna pee, and have wetsuit issues - why not just have your wetsuit modified? Get a velcro flap installed "down there" and when you want to go - open the flap and let it fly! Might help.

Good luck!
