Maybe the guy had just completed his advanced ugly diver speacialty from a rather poor instructor and was trying to demonstrate his skills.

Bad reaction on his part. Appropriate move to offer an apology.

I have to agree with all that made comments on the health isse and that if he was truly concerned he should stay in the water to assist his wife.

Nope, if he was TRULY concerned he should have kept his wife out of the water if she had health issues.
