Just curious.... has anyone on here actually tried FIREDIVING???
No i have never tried it. and I don't think anybody would br crazy enough to do it.. :P

My nickname is cause I am a firefighter and love fire.. and I Love diving as well.

Oh and here is that story Diverlady:
Santa Barbara (AP) A puzzling discovery was found in the mountains of southern California. Fire authorities found a corpse in a burnt out section of forest while assessing the damage done by a forest fire. The deceased male was found in the top of a tree, dressed in a full wetsuit, complete with tank, fins, mask and snorkel.
It was found that on the day of the fire, the deceased diver went on a diving trip some 35 miles away from the fire. The fire was fought with a fleet of helicopters with very large buckets. The helicopters would dip their buckets into the ocean, carry the water to the forest fire, and drop the water on the fire. The diver was accidentally scooped up in a bucket while he was diving and carried off, only to be dropped onto a forest fire. Authorities are not sure how much effect the diver had on putting out the fire.

If I remember correctly... there was an episode of CSI that had a similar storyline... dead scuba diver in the trees.

If you read the fire Diver site carefully you will read in the Fire Diver equiment that BCDs have parachutes in them.. yah right.. :P

"Veteran Fire Divers simply inflate their BCD's on the way down to fall slower than the water and then land in the water from the scoop, proper weighting is VERY important in Fire Diving."

http://www.firediving.com/equip.html

"While some Fire Divers prefer to use dive skins or 3mm suits for streamlining themselves, most of the newer fire divers are now using NOMEX wetsuits , diveskins and even the occasional drysuit. The advantage of drysuits is that the suit can be inflated on the way down softer landings. "

heeheehee

I love it... heehee:bonk::banging::stupid: heehee<no offence>

NavyDoll once bubbled...
If I remember correctly... there was an episode of CSI that had a similar storyline... dead scuba diver in the trees.

Yep there was.. and another one was about a parasailor.....found dead in the city everyon thought he commited suicide when actually he died in the air and fell out of his harnes.... yadda yadda..

I like how they camouflage their tanks by painting them bright colours. (The whole site is a complete riot!!)

"Many divers have painted their tanks and most of their equipment with a crazy pattern of green, gray, pink, blue, and brown hexagons. I know it sounds weird but many of Fire Divers believe this camouflage pattern is the best there is. "

REMEMBER: using a bungie cord to stay in the bucket is considered cheating!!!
And those Sonoma CA firedivers aiming for wine vats during a competition!! It threw the whole competition in disarray when the judges all went missing! (wineries being searched)

I doubt this is DIR though! :D

Diverlady

I have to agree what a riot.. I had a blast reading the site.. heehee thanks a million Diverlady...

Hey Firediver-

Here's to dipping in the great Bay of Fundy to ya! the 35° - 50°F (that's 2C - 10C for Canucks) is great for the circulation, and helps keep one on their toes/fins/etc.!!:D

I've been enjoying the sites in the Bay of Fundy and off Halifax for a few years now (haven't been spoiled by the south, yet......;) )

hope to see in the drink swimming soon!!

:shark: (look familiar?)
