Hello this is for my friend who does not have an computer. He is looking to buy a BP/wing he wants to have a nice look with a wing that can use doubles he was thinking apex but we cant find there website he wants something that looks nice over top of a drysuit - comfy to wear and be a tech harness cause he is doing his tech class in april. Plz anything is up for grabs here any info would help thanks guys

Pretty much all wings look similar, there are differences of course but you'll find the Hogarthian harness to be the most common on a BP/W setup and the rigging instructions are found by a search here.

I like the DSS wing myself and more info is available at http://www.deepseasupply.com/ on it. I'm not completely sure what you mean by a tech harness, but if it's not the Hogarthian harness then you'll find that Tobin has a harness that's as close to what you want as anything you'll ever find.

Honestly, the looks are similar on all of them and you'll find the differences from a distance hard to discern, but up close you'll notice things like the angles how the wing mounts, holes, slots etc will vary.

ok im ordering an OMS comfort harness and ss backplate for me cause that was my choice and he smacks me for it lol cause i dunno i told him to go with one but no i think he may go with the apex or a halycon

For a Nice Look, I'd suggest that he paint yellow daisy's on the wing, and maybe some green vines down the harness...

Seriously what the heck is a NICE look UW. Even hot babes don't look nearly as hot in scuba gear, even if I can generally still admire woman in DiveGear :D

For some manufactures....

Oxycheq, DiveRite, Hammer, Zeagle, Halycon, DeepSea, Salvo.. the list goes on, and I don't even dive a BP/W setup :D

IMO if he's a dude in a drysuit wearing scuba gear the nice look is out the window (for me at least) at the point of "dude".

Most Holgarthian harnesses are just webbing. If he wants more comfort then DiveRite, and Zeagle make some padded and countoured harnesses, but the DIR instructor may look down upon you from above, and smite you.:10:

I think some more useful information would be what lift he is looking for, what budget he has, and if he thinks bungied wings are a good thing :11doh:

Halcyon Evolve system is all he needs , looks cool , even the webbing has the cool h pattern. It looks good and its very functional. Best of the best IMO

MSilvia:
The coolness of large blue 'H' patterns on your harness is debatable.

As is it being "the best of the best" The donut style wing has it's share of detractors and a quick search will provide some food for thought.

Good luck on your search for coolness :14: , I will say that I am very happy with my Oxycheq wings. I dive a 30# single and the standard 50# for my doubles. I am very cool, thanks to the 52 degree water, so I don't have to compensate with my gear. :D

We sell a black AL backplate, which does look cool when it's sitting around rigged up, but it won't help much once you put it on and are diving since most of it will be hidden by your body, wings and tanks. Find something that meets your budget and has some brand recognition. Performace-wise, there's not a lot of difference from one wing/plate to the next. How it's built is more important...stitching, etc.

I tried on the Apeks WTX harness and found it similar to the Dive Rite Transpac:

http://www.divesports.com/mall/apeks_bc_wtxharness.asp

Sizing is different and Apeks offers more sizes. It integrates with their weight system so you could use it as an expensive back inflated BC. The backplate looks very well made with a nice finish, but the harness I tried on was a softpack. I think this harness system is intended to compete directly with Dive Rite's transpacs and transplates and is not a BP/W in the classical sense.
