This is an invitation for all Wreck Valley Members to participate in a NAUI Advance Open Water Course. Hopefully, this will be the first of many more courses. If you are not a member, then join!
Dates: 23 (Friday night campers), 24-25 June 2006.

This course will be held this time ONLY with no instructor fees. There will be expenses that each student will have to bear:
1. Two days entry fee to Dutch Springs ($44.00) and more if you are camping. Night Dives may have a fee too.
2. Tanks and air fills (air fills at Dutch are $8.00 for an AL 80).
3. NAUI certification registration and card ($25.00).
4. Meals and drinks.
5. Boat dives and equipment for Future Ocean dives.
This course will be doing six dives, three each day. One dive on Saturday will be a night dive. Camping is highly encouraged on Saturday night. Camping is available on Friday and Saturday. I will be setting up on Friday evening.
The NAUI registration fee is due Saturday morning. Please, bring cash or checks only.
Your standard equipment set up including a BC, regulators, gauges or computer/bottom timer. A 6-7 mm Farmer John style wet suit with hood and gloves is required. Divers who are dry suit qualified may use dry suits. Divers who want to dive dry, P.M. me and we can make that happen too.
Required equipment:
Exposure suit
Fins
Mask
Snorkel (but wearing is optional)
BC
Weights/belt
Three tanks (80CF minimum)
Primary and Alternative air regulators (no spare air please)
Depth gauge
Tank pressure gauge (SPG)
Bottom timer or computer
NAUI Dive tables
3-5 mm gloves and booties
Additional required items to bring:
Open water certification card
Logbook
Writing instrument
Notepaper
Underwater compass (mounting your choice)
Two underwater lights
Items that would help your cause (I may have extras):
Open bottom, red surface marker buoy.
Wreck Reel (finger spools will not be will not be used).
25-50 pound lift bag.
Brass or stainless bolt snaps to configure gear.
Pre-qualifications:
Please endeavor to have at least 25 dives (including all training dives) completed before this class. This is not a hard and fast rule, but I do reserve the option to delay your ocean experience if you have not completed at lease this numbers of dives.
NAUI requires the following requirements:

Navigation Diving
We will also cover:
Non-penetration wreck diving
Advance Gear configuration
Introduction to Nitrox
Light salvage
Wreck reel and SMB skills
Dry Suit Diving
Gas Management
Rescue

We will review and evaluate:
Buoyancy
Trim
Fining Technique (hint, work on your frog kicks)
Gear configuration
Air consumption rates
And, each student will be video taped while performing certain skills.
At least one ocean dive will be required of all participating students.
Scheduling students and instructors for NJ/NY boats dives should be settled before the class starts in June.
