I heard that it was a great place to pick up gear at a reasonable price....DEE who is on this board goes every year and I think she also has a booth there and sells her DeeRags....which reminds me I need to order one:D

I am going to be out of town this weekend or I would have gone this year....so I guess I will have to wait until next year :(

I think it is worth it if you are wanting to get outfitted with anything major.

There is always people out there selling their old stuff but one local dive shop usually rents half the area and discounts all their stuff, empties the store and takes it over there. They are a discounter at their store and this is one of only two times a year that they slash their prices even farther. It's also all new gear-they don't sell anything used.

You can also take in the sites at Nasa or at the Kemah Boardwalk (all in Clear Lake) or go to Galveston over the weekend and make a nice trip of it.

I thought about taking a bunch of stuff down there from my shop, but i did not see to much talk on this board about it so I passed. Usually this board is a pretty good indicator of what is happening in the industry, but now I am starting to wonder. How many people normally attend?

DEE may have that answer.....I had heard about it through SeaSpace but had always forgot about it by the time it got here....Dee has said she has picked up a few things there.....I don't know how well her booth...

Generally Scubaboard is a good indicator but not always within the Houston area since there are (fortunately) several strong and active dive clubs there which (unfortunately) results in an under-representation here.

The event is hosted by one of the clubs called Bay Area Divers. See this page for more details and I would suggest contacting them for vendor booth details and the most accurate numbers on past attendance.

We should see what it would take to do one in the North Texas area. I know I have a few things I need to get rid of, and I'm always on the lookout for good deals whether I need them or not....LOL.

Yeah I kind of do one for customers, just had one Sat Sept 30. I have everyone bring up their stuff to sell in the consignment sales. I usually do it about twice a year. I can't believe one of the local clubs has not sponsored one. What a don't sell, I Ebay. Honestly, I think Ebay is one of the best ways to sell your stuff. I am getting ready to list a bunch more stuff this week. I just sold some pretty good stuff last week via Ebay. I thought I might give the Bay Area thing a try, but I may end up skipping it. I feel like I am reacting a little to late now to do it properly, especially since I just listed a bunch of stuff this past week that wouldl have been great in the sale.

I probably should apologize for not getting the word out about the flea market. I haven't been on the board very much the last few months and honestly, I thought someone had already been talking it up.

This is our 31st year to have this flea market. It originally started as a way for club members to sell or trade the gear they had outgrown or had no use for but it was still good gear for someone. There's always deals on new, gently used, and truly antique gear to be had. I've bought and sold a little bit of everything there.

Debraw...it's really a good place for shops. We've got several that come from out of town and several of the local shops are always there. If you'd like to to check and see if there's any more tables available, email me.

I hope to see ya'll there....the weather is supposed to be great!
