Emirates fly direct from Dubai to Cebu then on to Clarke and back to Dubai.

Lots of Emirates flights from Europe can connect to this flight, but I don't think it would be cost effective to run any direct flight from Europe to Cebu.
United Emirates is in West Asia.

@Blackcrusader was talking about many airlines have direct flight to Cebu!! Which is ONLY accurate within Asia but not the rest of the world.
Turkish Airline is the only airline in Europe that has direct flight to Cebu.
From North America? PAL has direct non stop flight from several cities in Canada and USA to Manila only.
I doubt very much that UA has direct flight from USA to Cebu City.

@Centrals

No one said that United had a direct flight to Cebu. What I said was they've added a connection from Tokyo to Cebu (utilizing their fifth freedom rights granted by the Japanese government).

It's a reasonable connection, adding just a few hour stop in Narita, which is an easy connection for most people flying from the US.z

Given that MNL doesn't make it easy to transit from an international carrier (other than PAL) to a PAL domestic flight, this is now a reasonable option if Cebu is your destination. Transiting in HKG and TPE are also easy options.

@Blackcrusader mentioned many airlines have direct flight to Cebu City. I merely point out that only Turkish Airline has direct flight from Europe to Cebu City and NONE from N America.
Did I actually suggesting that you had mentioned UA has direct flight from USA to Cebu?

For your information, Air Asia has flight from MNL to CEB and I believe Air Asia is an international carrier. It has more than one flight a day so it is not that difficult to make the connection. Cebu Pcific has even more flights available to most places in Philippines from Manila.
Korean Air has flight from N America to Cebu via Incheon, nice airport and the food at the Lounge is also very good.

I was the one who brought up the United connection through Tokyo, therefore I was assuming you were referring to my comment.

You should be more clear as to who you are responding to when you mix responses.

Air Asia is not a great airline ;)

Sure... which is why I've flown EVA many times. The reality is though if you are frequent UA customer, you are potentially taking some of these flights for free (on miles, up front).

Of the 12 flights from SFO-MNL, I've only paid for 4 of them. That's not impossible on EVA, but it's a bit easier on UA, and they've discounted the flights to MNL for much of the last year.

I am very fortunate to live in Taiwan. The time it takes me to get to the airport is longer than the flights themselves and I often overnight at the Hyatt Airport Hotel next to the airport for early morning flights.
Flying to Singapore then Maldives and flight leaves 8am so I get the Hotel shuttle to the airport at 5am which takes around 15 minutes. BTW even if you fly economy there is a large free airport lounge next to the airline lounges. Nice sofas and bench tables and power points. Good place to rest up.

@Blackcrusader

Yeah... I used to transit in TPE quite often (EVA flight schedules from the west coast of the US were good - multiple flights leaving very late evening, arriving TPE early morning).

These were convenient, comfortable, etc. However our dive bags didn't make the transit to MNL one time (and we missed our connection to Palau - we were unwilling to travel onwards without our dive & camera gear). We did get our bags about 8 hours late (in MNL), however after digging into this a bit, I heard from a number of people that had bags delayed transiting TPE... it seems to be happening quite often on the TPE-MNL route.

Since this occurance we've been using other routes (including the now available direct SFO-MNL that United is flying).

I raised the question on #20 and your reply is #21. In that thread you only mentioned connection but did not specify whether it was a direct or indirect flight. YES. You are the one that need to make it clear. LOL.
#32! "MNL does not make it easy to transit from an international carrier(other than PAL) to a PAL domestic flight"!! At least there are Asia and Cebu Pacific, both are international carrier. to choose and there are probably more.
Whether Air Asia is not a great airline is a moot point. Why don't you start a thread on this topic?
