We are looking at a diving resort on Andros Island and I am wondering why there isn't more diving activity when the 3rd largest reef in the world is a 2 minute boat ride away. The weather was not cooperating when we were there, (we were bonefishing). They claim to have lots of blue holes, caverns all over the place, and chimeny coral. Any thoughts? We are also looking for a divemaster or 2. What does chimeny coral look like anyway?

I am new to this site. I may be in the wrong forum......
Welcome to SB luciabelle! May be the wrong forum but definitely the best board on the internet! I'm sure you'll get the rest of your answers checking the forum El Orans gave you. Good luck, dive safely!

I spent a lot of time on Andros and enjoyed the island. However, I wasn't there to dive though I did manage to get in several. The diving was fair to average. Attractions for tourists are limited. On the other hand, the island is quaint and very Caribbean. There is little commercialism at this time. PM me if you need/want additional information.

Hi luciabelle,
You are right, it is an incredible place just lacks development at this time. I have been going to South Andros for many years and it has it all, shallow reef, deep reef, wall diving, blue holes, and great fishing . I have a close friend who will take divers out in South Andros where the bonefishing is the best anywhere. E-mail me if interested.
