Surface Interval Clothing and John Chatterton partner together to raise money for SUDS.
Surface Interval Clothing and John Chatterton are partnering together to raise money for SUDS (Soldiers Undertaking Disabled Scuba) in an online auction of Andrea Doria items. Paired together in the auction will be one Authentic Surface Interval Clothing Andrea Doria t-shirt autographed byJohn Chatterton and one piece of Italia Logo china retrieved from the Andrea Doria by Chatterton himself.
The auction will take place on eBay (US) beginning on July21, 2011at approximately 12pm Central Time and close on July 31, 2011. All proceeds from this auction will go directly to SUDS. Bids are welcome from US and International participants.
Surface Interval Clothing, creator of designer dive apparel has been a longtime supporter of SUDS. Says Tina Schall, Marketing Director,"A large part of our team come from military backgrounds, so S.I.C. and SUDS were such a natural fit." S.I.C. donates all net proceeds from thesale of its Signature Series SUDS design directly to SUDS.
John Chatterton is one most accomplished and well-known wreck divers in the world and both he and his wife, Carla, had been working with SUDS when they met both Eric and Tina Schall of Surface Interval Clothing on a dive trip in 2009. Some of Chattertons more recognizable work is as the co-hostof the popular History Channel series "Deep Sea Detectives". His passion has always been researching, finding, and diving new and challenging shipwrecks.
Another notable work of Johns is the 1991 discovery and subsequent identification of the German submarine U-869 off the coast of New Jersey. This find has been the subject of several television documentaries, including Hitler's Lost Sub, a two-hour special for the popular NOVA series on PBS. In 2004, this same story also became the subject of a New York Times bestselling book published by Random House and written by Rob Kurson, titled Shadow Divers.
In over almost 25 years, John has managed to complete more than 160 dives to the well-known North Atlantic wreck of the Andrea Doria.
