Hi, I'm looking for an analog double gauge console (pressure and depth). I would like it to have the option for future upgradability in case I decide to purchase a compass for it. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced one that you can recommend to me? Thank you.

You might try local dive shops as some are throwing these things away because nobody wants them anymore. Any of the majors in scuba should have at least one for sale new.

Any reason why people don't want it anymore? Some reason I can think of are:
1. With the introduction of dive computer, people will only need PG and Compass in their console.
2. Combo console with PG, depth and compass is usually too bulky

That's basically my reason to aviod those combo.

If you want a gauge that can be upgraded... I'd tell you do the Aeris or Sherwood or Genesis (really all the same) The depth gauge in their units is the standard "hockey puck" computer size - so you can toss one in later. Off the 3, the Aeris has the best vis - high contrast black on white - and it comes with a thermometer on the pressure gauge, and a place to add a compass on the back.

Here's a link to The Aeris 2 and 3 Gauge consoles with photos.

Suunto's Combo Console is neat if you want a customizable console. You can get a 2 guage now and add a compass later, add a computer afters, add an air integrated computer...

That will make your console really really huge though.

The depth boot also accepts Sunnto's computers, so you use that when you upgrade. They also have a compass that attaches to the back of the pressure guage which will keep the whole package compact.

I was able to get a ScubaPro analog mini-spg and depth guage for pretty cheap. The console has a space for a back-mounted compass. It's not as flexible as the Suuntos console but it's a heck of a lot cheaper.

One thing I noticed: I purchased an analog SPG/DG combo console as a backup to my AI computer. Now I need a Bottom Timer as well (one that resets itself every time you get in the water). I can't find a Bottom Timer that doesn't also contain a Depth Guage. I should have instead gotten a "cheap" dive computer and a separate SPG to use for backup.

I would like it to be as compact as possible. Don't want to lugging around a brick. Which one is the most compact?

ScubaPro has a few mini consoles. It's not upgradable though. Those will work great as backups to AI wrist comps.
