I am headed out to Anacappa for some diving next weekend. Still new to diving and wanted to get some general info about what I might see out there and any special precautions to take or some things I definitely don't want to miss?
Thanks!

Can be cold, windy, nasty with lots of surge...it also can be quite beautiful above and below. Cousteau calls it his most beautiful place to dive. Lots of boats leave the SB/Oxnard area you can google them and check it out. Conditions vary day to day

Which charter you going with?
You took your classes in warm water.... have you dove in our wonderful cool water yet?
Bottom line, do you know your wieghting with a 7mm+ suit and how to handle kelp yet?
Most dive spots @ Anacappa are perfect for getting use to So.Cal. diving.... lots to see, do, and still be safe. You will love it. Hope to see you in the water someday soon.

I was swallowed live by a whale once at Annacapa...Other than that, I it is a great place to dive. Warmest of the four northern islands with the clearest water to boot. In the reserves you find protected water from most of the swell, and there will be tons of fish to check out. Bring something warm to wear between dives. It can get cold on the boat.
