Bahamian authorities have launched an investigation following the death of a 50-year-old American woman during a diving excursion near Rose Island.

The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. yesterday when the woman experienced medical distress shortly after entering the water. Authorities are working to determine the cause of the distress and the circumstances surrounding her death.

The boat crew swiftly helped the woman back onto the vessel after she lost consciousness. Emergency medical services were promptly alerted, and she was transported to a nearby hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, she was pronounced dead shortly upon arrival.

Diving deaths are often caused by medical issues, equipment problems, or running out of air. The risk of death increases with the depth of the dive, the type of diving, and the diver’s experience and physical condition.
