My wife and I have been to Ambergris twice. It is never to loud, unless you go the the bars. Which is a must do just to hear them sing "Just another gringo in Belize"
Both times we have stayed at the Mayan Princess and dove with Amigos Del Mar. We have been quite happy both times. The Mayan Princess is a condo, with a stove & microwave, no oven. We usually eat out at night and cook in for the other meals. We even enjoy the street vendor food.
Our favorite dive is the Elbow at Turniff. Also had a really delightful time at Esmerelda.
