I recently created a new thread and was trying to include an amazon link.

When I used the "link" entry icon and used this for the URL:
https://www.amazon.com/SecurityIng-Flashlight-Underwater-Photography-Fluorescence/dp/B07VQSLM6Z

The result once posted was a Amazon logo picture like this:

When I edited the post and toggle BB code on the link had been converted to a [MEDIA] type like this:
[MEDIA=amazon]B07VQSLM6Z[/MEDIA]

I've gotten this a number of times.

I don’t even bother using the link thing anymore. I just dump the link into the post and it works fine.

The board software 'unfurls' media urls automatically and embeds the associated media.

I applaud that. Problem is that it is a product link that it is treating as media.

Don’t use the link icon thing.

Well that ^ doesn't work either:

I have not seen documentation on this new "feature" but it appears to be treated differently than unfurled URLs. I suspect that most readers don't care as long as they have something to click on that opens the page, but that is not always the case.

The alternative to use a conventional link like this:

SecurityIng Scuba Diving Video Flashlight with White UV Red Light, 120 Degrees Wide Beam Angle

What is interesting to me is the resulting URLs are not the same. Clicking on the link above that uses the URL shown in your OP opens a tab/page with that URL.

https://www.amazon.com/SecurityIng-Flashlight-Underwater-Photography-Fluorescence/dp/B07VQSLM6Z

Clicking on the autogenerated Amazon image link results in a considerably different URL. The top one is the URL you used and the bottom one is the autogenerated URL:

I suspect that somebody is getting a micro-commission. I hope it is ScubaBoard instead of xenForo. I will make an effort to use the media version of the link if ScubaBoard gets a benefit of some kind. Ping @The Chairman

For other readers:

The following is an example of an "unfurled" link:
