Just found this site, but have been certified since 1982.

Gear has changed somewhat.

Now I mostly dive south, warm conditons with my newly-wet wife

I learned to dive with a horse collar in 1973

I also started with a horse collar BC.

I learned to dive in a horse collar BC, no power inflator. I still have it in my basement though it no longer holds air. It is a Scubapro. What a difference from my Zeagle Ranger Ltd.

I was certified in '84 with a horse collar, although I had been diving before that with no BCD at all. They were phased out pretty soon after that.

When I started diving in the early 90's, we used the Scubapro horse collar but that's only because we did not have anything else

Certified in 1986 and have never experienced a horse collar. Not sure if I should feel left out???

when I was certified there were no horse collars..when I started teaching my students were certified in them..

I started with a horse collar. My next BC was an At Pac, which was basically the 70's version of the BP/wing, which is what I dive now.

So things have changed a whole.... well, not much really.;)
