Ok, i've been diving for about 2 years but have only logged 20 odd dives due to liking the warm waters :)

i've got a Drysuit comming in the next few days and my club will be training me to use it.

I'm OW trained but have joined a BSAC club. I know PADI do a drysuit course but BSAC have it as part of the basic Ocean Diver (OW equiv). Since i've done the OW i don't need the OD but now i've missed the drysuit part!

As i said above the club hires a pool every week and i'm getting the basics taught in the next week or so but they can't get me to open waters till the end of may :(

Would i be safe to go with another drysuit newbie who did OW with me and practice the pool stuff in deeper waters (7-10 meters) or should i just sit in front of the TV wearing it till they can take me? (don't tell me you don't wear new gear around the house when you 1st get it ;))

We are in the pool most weeks just messing arround and roleplaying, so i guess i'm more confident that the average 20 odd diver :)

So just get in a quarry and practice?

Just make sure you are aware of how a drysuit operates and the issues that can arise when diving it.

Make sure your dive buddy is also aware and can assist you if needed.

A drysuit is not just cold protection it is another BC device. You must learn how to use it.

BSAC is well respected for its quality of training. I suspect you'll be fine. If you don't feel comfortable after completing your training, express those concerns to your instructor.

That's what i thought, i'll see how the pool time goes :)
