it is best not to touch things until you are informed on how it would affect them. too many people go down for tactual sensations and that could be damaging to what they are touching. continue your education, you are hooked, it won't feel like work. and you will feel better knowing what you are doing. instead of following other peoples behavior

Aloha and welcome to the board! I love diving in Kona, and I always wear gloves there, too, because of the 'a'a. Thanks for sharing your story...we all have stories to share, and it just shows that diving is a learning experience. The more you dive, the more you learn, but you never stop learning....
