I really see this incident of yours as the dive crew's fault. If they know currents there can change rapidly, and are that strong, they should have been prepared for that. All somone had to do is look around and find bubbles and throw a line in that direction..

The "good" OPs usually throw a line out at the begining of the dive so you can"see" what direction the surface current's going. Then they follow it up with a detailed dive brieifing (with drawings) including what depth is right under the boat and in what direction you'll find what and the depth ranges so you can plan your dive accordingly.

Sometimes it's difficult to see bubbles if the conditions are not ideal and you stray too far from the boat. When conditions are rough then they usually have as many eyes as possible (including other divers) watching for divers surfacing from far off in all directions. If you're way out and going against the current they will usually take pitty on you and send a crew member out in the chase boat to pick you up. These crew members work pretty hard (on the good boats) so when they're working OT like that it's usually customary to beef up the tip at the end of the trip.

Yes Jim, in cases like that but windwalker said this crew knew squat and no one on the boat even seemd to know or care he was struggling that much. I'll bet they all EXPECTED to be tipped at the end of this Chinese fartdrill?:eyebrow:
