Palancar, Columbia or Punta Sur. We did Cedral or Santa Rosa for second dives most of the time. I requested and dove Tunich and San Francisco, both of which sustained damage. Generally, the deeper sites would retain the closest likeness to what Cozumel was like before the hurricanes.

Nevis Diver:
Having been to Cozumel only once, I would like to know where to dive there that would be the closest likeness to the coral that was there before Wilma and Emily.

Well, I asked Jorge, our DM, after the first dive one day a couple of weeks ago where we could go where there wasn't so much sand, and he said, "Your hotel room." To those who dive the reefs every day, the damage is obvious on all of them. I would have to say that the least affected reef we dove on was Chun Cha Cab. That's the only place I saw intact sea fans in 5 days of diving.

That said, to one (such as I) who doesn't dive there every day, most of the deep dives were pretty much as great as they always were.
