Manatee deeper and better, not so many swimmers around. If you are going near Alexander than you might consider Blue Springs another state park in Orange City
 
manatee has a deeper basin, with a nice cavern to look at (can't carry lights if not
cavern certified or above). that's catfish hotel.

also, there is the actual manatee spring, which is rather shallow (20-25 feet?) but
has a MONSTER current coming out of the cave. it's fun to "ride the current" and
play around.
 
Did Manatee 2 weeks ago. Good newbie type dive.
There were a couple of scuba classes going
on so I would suggest to get there early since
the park limits the number of divers. Catfish hole
is goes down about 65-70 feet. Have not
been to Alexander Springs.
 
I'd suggest Manatee also, weekdays are by far the best, otherwise the viz gets blown out quick and the park can fill up easily.
