Hi.
Has anyone been diving there ? Any interesting activity or site in that area ? Any spot with reasonable clear water ? Clamming ?
Thanks,
Miguel

I wouldn't call the a great place to dive. While I've never dove
in the sound here, I've spent time on it. Most recently about
3 weeks ago fishing. The water doesn't have a great amount
of visibility due to the current(tides) stiring up the silt and
the mixing of fresh and seawater into brack-ish water.

I've dove the offshore locations on the ocean here and if you
like wreck diving, you'll like those sites.

However the sound just isn't know for diving. It's shallow and
not much to see, or at least "known" dive sites. There is
a lot of commercial crabbing in the sound though and lots of
recreational fishing also.

I'd suggest checking out the OBX Dive shop as they might
have better information. http://www.obxdive.com/.
I suggest calling them as they are slow to reply to email.

hope this helps..... -mike

You might want to contact my client, Bottome Time and Scuba Tech (see links below). The seem to be very knowledgeable and rather easy to deal with. And hey, they are right in the area you are after! ;)

I live on the Albemarle Sound. Not good diving. No visability.
