I was thinking of picking up an Aladin TEC wrist. What do you guys think about the unit, especially those who have dove it? What are the pro's and con's of the unit?

I greatly appreciate any help that you guys can provide!

I have an Aladin Tec 3 gauge console on order (since January). According to the Scubapro rep that I talked to last week, the only ones that have shipped out (wrist or console) are the pre-production ones that they have sent to reps for them to use. They are supposed to ship out in the next two weeks.

He showed me his and ran through it with me. I am not a Tec diver, (yet) but they seem VERY easy to use and the 'menu' is very navigatable.

Thanks Ronny. I received an e-mail from scubapro yesterday stating exactly what you said. The computers will ship in two weeks or so. I did not realize that nobody had one yet.

Being a beginning diver, I really trust what my local Dive Instructor has told me. The $100 difference is worth it if you decide to go deeper (pardon the pun) in diving than just the Open Water or Advanced Open Water. And heck, it's only money....hahaha

Bonk:
How much does the TEC cost?

I heard $495 from my LDS, and no exact ship date known. IMO, the TEC is not a true technical computer because it can only manage one gas. It is more of a deluxe recreational computer. I have no idea why anyone would need a single gas computer that does Nitrox with over 50% O2. Besides, for technical diving you are much better off with a bottom timer and tables. The computer is just a back-up. Once you have tried it, you will know why. Its true that the TEC can operate as a bottom timer and the Prime can not, but for the $125 difference in price, you could almost get a bottom timer.
