I have my water contacts activated and I tried them out in the sink and the computer turned on. However, I went to the pool tonight to try it at depth and they don't seem to turn the computer on anymore. Came back and tried the sink again. Did I break the thing already? Good lord I treat it like it's gold! :(

Do you have the Irda dongle for your PC? If so, you can check your settings that way. I have found it to be easier than scrolling through. I have never had that happen to mine, and after a couple hundred dives it is still on the original battery. Hopefully for you it was just turned off.

It says it's turned on:( Maybe I need to let it dry out for awhile. Dammit I just got it 2 days ago after having to send it in 3 times cuz scubapro set the wrong models. ugh. Then again I guess I could just ignore it and just remember to turn it on before I dive. Also, I went to the pool, granted it was only 5' deep but that should be deep enough to get it running. I set it down on the bottom for 5 minutes and then when I came home it said there were no logged dives. Does it need to be deeper then 5' to start logging dives? Man I'm getting frustrated.

check to see if some how you turned the contacts off. i believe that it is in the set 2 menu. it mite be a little different on mine than on yours because i have the tech version but check to see if you have accidentally turned them off if did turn them back on and lick you finger and touch the contacts if this does not work take it back to the dive shop where you bought it and have them look at it. personly i have been through two of the Aladdin tech computers the first one one of the buttons some how fell off thank god i was on a shallow dive. and have a back up computer. now i am on my second one and it has been down graded to my back up. i am not saying they are bad computers but they don't make them like they used to.

it should start logging the dive at 3 ft

Well holy poo on a stick, I did the lick and stick thing and it turned on. Let it turn off and licked and sticked it again and it won't turn on. Guess it's just a hair trigger or something. Wonder if my spit is just more conductive/potent then your average water bath. Now if I could just see it log a dive. Thanks guys. I'll dive with it first before I take it back. The contacts are on, I triple checked that.

i hope it just needs diving. let us know what hapens

Hey guys, just thought I'd post my observations about the computer for anyone else who may have it/get it.

I finally figured out the contacts. If you press and hold the left and right buttons, the computer goes into sleep mode. In this mode, the water contacts will NOT work even if in the settings you have them set to on. However, if you let the computer sit for 3 minutes it automatically turns off. At this point the water contacts work fine. I guess you can consider the sleep mode almost like a player lock on a CD player so you can't bump the buttons....in this case, bump the water contacts with...well....water:)

Also, the computer does record my dive profile but only lower than 5 feet it seems. The depth begins to read at the standard 3 ft but to get it to start you need to drop below 5'.

All in all, awesome computer. It's more conservative than my old one, but that 's bad at all. A lot of computers are heading that way and I just need to adjust to it but I love it:D

I have the Aladin prime and it's a nice little computer once you get used to how it works. I had one lose its mind, taking dives by itself, refusing to turn off, and sometimes refusing to turn on. It would log the dive anyway once I got it into the water. (I dive with a backup). The manufacturer replaced it without any troubles.

Any of you have temperature problems with your Aladdins? Mine spikes down several degrees below the actual temperature when I first get in, then raises to the correct temp (according to my buddies) within 3 minutes. This is most evident when I view the downloaded dive log on my notebook.
