It's definitely not an AK, but I don't believe it is an M-16 either. Kinda reminds me of an HK, not the MP-5 type but the big one. Doesn't really matter: poor choice of weapon to challenge whatever he mis-judged to be a fair match.

After freezing the video and stepping through the frames; I have to agree with you Wildcard. You can definitely see the "carry handle", front sight, and the sling appears to attach in the correct area. Good call!
