Very happy to have a Delta Skymiles Amex and get that free checked bag. I have still switched to very lightweight gear for diving just to keep the overall weight and size down.

southwest bags fly free

That doesn't get you to many dive destinations.

I have a Continental Presidential Plus Card. This gives you two free checked bags, Elite access on all flights and a Presidents Club membership.

It has a high annual fee and you won't want to ever carry a balance due to the interest rate, but worth the money if you travel a fair amount with checked bags. It can pay for itself by eliminating the bag fees and elite access pretty much guarantees overhead space for your carry on bags. Would hate to lose camera, regs and computers which I do carry on board. Gate checked bags can get lost.

I pay for everything with this card. This earns me enough miles for my son and I to make two Caribbean dive trips every year.

Got to game the system these days.
