Are there any air-trapping problems with DiveRite Travel wings stemming from the way the inner bladder is squished into the outer shell? Love the size. Thanks.
Dave

I have the same question with the Rec Wing?? Using the gusset-control cord for single tanks, there must be some air trapping going on?? My buoyancy sucked today (looked like a yo-yo trying to hold that deco stops), and I'm just looking for excuses. Why's the bottom dump valve below the wing???

^^^ Good example of thread hijacking........

The travel wing is a donut shape so no air trapping that I could feel.....but as with any back inflate /wing....I would suggest keeping the wing vertically oriented when dumping. Either Butt toward the surface or head toward the surface use the bottom dump if tail up and when head up, pull dump on the shoulder works good. The Bungee on the Rec wings helps but you still need to have the dump you are using at the closest point to the waters surface / highest point. Rec wing is my favorite because you can occasionally strap doubles on it. Halcyon and oxy cheq wings are nice too. Halcyon has a small wing too but it does not have an elastic cover on it.

My travel wing (both scubapro and diverite models) have not shown any air-trapping problems with me.

The RecWing, on the other hand... well it's a horseshoe-type bladder, not a torus. If you're doing shallow and super-fine-tuned buoyancy control, the air trapping can be irritating. In fact, that's the number one reason I switched to a torus bladder. I was often getting trapped air at one or both bottom "ends", and as I was oriented head-down, I had to pull the rear dumps to deflate. Bleah!

I was using a horseshoe gusset-corded Zeagle Scout wing and had no problems with air-trapping inside the wing but it trapped exhaled air underneath itself like a cowl. I had to dip my head periodically to get rid of it. It wasn't a big deal but it was kind of irritating in shallow water with a low tank. I recently bought a new Venture wing for $150.00 but was thinking of switching it for a travel wing because of the travel wings smaller exterior dimensions. I was asking about the Travel Wing because there seems to be a lot of creases and bunched-up places in the bladder. (I know, its a function of the smaller exterior shell and you can't have everything.) No one has said it traps air yet, but maybe I should just STFU and keep the Venture wing but I really like the size of the travel wing. Thanks for the opinions.

Travel Wings don't trap air, my brothers Twing is about 6 yrs old and has about a 100 dives and have never had a problem with air traping.

I used this rig a few times and never had any problems with it, for traveling, definetely get a 32# wing like the DR T Wing or the OMS Single Cyl T wing.
Halcyon has the Eclipse 30# wing and the Pioneer 27# wing.
Oxycheq has the smallest I've seen, a 18# wing that should be very small for tavel and a 30# wing.

Needless to say, all theese wings are for single tanks.

No air trapping with my SP Trav-Tek wing. I love it.

Can't say I've experienced any trapping or buoyancy problems with my RecWing.

I havent had any problems with my Rec wing. I Just packed it and the TransPlate in a small carry on case with drag wheels and it went in like a beauty. Ive got way too many planes to change to risk not having my bcd not show up at the final destination...Bonaire.
