So I am curious.... I was reading the other thread on pony bottles and was wondering how many people have experience with Air 2's. Not so much for the fact of owning and loving just if you had a buddy that had one do you know how the system works???

What does a buddy have to do with an Air2? You don't use it, the wearer does.

This has been discussed hundreds of times already

Yeah, you use it... does your buddy know where to get air if he needs it and how?

Perhaps I was unclear.... Does your buddy know where to get air if he needs it and the process that a buddy team goes though to share air using one.

I think the air2 is a "solution" to a non-existent problem. I would not dive with one and would be hesitant to dive with someone that had one.

What part of "This has been discussed hundreds of times already" was unclear?

And polls are worthless.

IMO - Air2's are a tax on the gullible. So you want to eliminate one stupid hose? Big deal... now if your inflator starts to freeflow, you've just disconnected part of your life support system. I bet you wish you had that hose when the crap hits the fan!

If you feel they're more "streamlined" (and I don't, considering I now have a big clunky regulator on the end of my inflator hose) why don't you just go all out, eliminate all your hoses and dive an ammo belt stuffed with spare airs? Complete redundancy!

I get an even larger chuckle out of divers who like the "streamlined" feel of an Air2, and then when they get called on how it's unsafe, point out that they also dive a Pony Bottle - therefore completely ruining any streamlining that an Air2 may offer.

Man, none of those choices are in the poll. Try to stay on topic okay

Boogie hit the nail on the head. IMO, the air2 is a dangerous POS that does not make one iota of sense.

I would amend the poll to include this choice:

"I have an air2 but haven't the foggiest idea what I am going to do if I have a problem with my primary and have to shut down my right post or disconnect my inflator hose. But then again, it probably doesn't matter because chances are I am solo diving on air anyway and am about due for a shiny new Darwin award of my own"

Hmmm just to play devils advocate here....

So you have a situation that you need to disconnect your inflator hose for a malfunction of any sort, and you are continuing your dive and not aborting?

Doesn't that sorta violate what we learned on day one in class?
