I plan to attach Air2 to Halcyon corrugated hose. I know it is a controversial issue and Mike also didn’t recommend it at all. But, how can I say, “It is me.”

There might be two ways to mount Air 2 on Halcyon hose:

1. Replace the existing inflator with Air II:

Pros:

1. I don’t need to buy additional corrugated hose.
2. Money saving

Cons:
1. It must need some type of glue that has been mentioned in other thread.
2. I am not sure I can have it done without messing up.

2. Get the additional genuine corrugate hose, mount Air II, and replace the whole corrugated hose:

Pros:
1. It can be done without destroying any genuine set up.
2. I can be back to the original set up by swapping the whole hose: Is it difficult to swap the hose or take a long time to do?
3. Even though I mess up, I don’t ruin the genuine hose and inflator

Cons:
1. Part availability: I am not sure if Halcyon sells the extra genuine corrugate hose and any related parts (might need to have the valve or some other connected stuff as seen in the picture http://www.scubaboard.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/20763/cat/500/page/1) : Can I use the ordinary corrugated hose?
2. Additional costs for the hose and parts.

If I take option 2, do I have to swap the hose and valve together or only hose?
I don't know have any clues, so please let me know your expertise.
Which option is feasible to do?
Thanks in advance,
P.S. Please no more Air 2 debate here. I don’t know you like Air 2. ;)

I wish I got some insights. Nobody replied.....:06:

Never mind!

I figured out it by myself. I replaced the genuine hose with the generic hose, gasket, and elbow. So, I can swap it anytime. The gasket and elbow is a universal size.

Check out the pictures if you want....

i was curious if that would work, wanted to do that but everyone i have asked has advised me not to do so,

It is because of Air 2 issue, not a feasible issue. Like I said, I don't want to get into Air 2 debate anymore. That is the reason why I decided to have another set up to swap it whenever I need. It only takes 10 second to be back to the genuine set up.

couldnt quite see it in the pics but did you do any modifications that permanently altered your rig if even slightly?

Never and ever!

Actually it is quite simple and no time consuming to fix the AIR2 to the original hose.
Before attachment must apply some sealant on the inflator connector, then fix to the hose tighten the screw with the black plastic strap..........

Yes, but mine doesn't use the original hose. I bought totally the new set of hose set up to mount Air 2.

And, I understand your point about the sealant. Initially, I only used the fancy clamp, but the air was leaking very slowly so I put additional zip ties to ensure the seals as you can see on the pictures. The dealer said, even they don't prefer the hose clamps to the simple ziptie. LOL~~ I wasted a couple of bucks.

Hoosier,

Just out of curiousity, could you have actually used the Air2 on the original hose? From looking at mine, I think you would have had your head perpetually turned to the left to be able to breathe on it. I think a replacement hose was the only way you could have made this work.

Also, how did you work the original hose out of it's restrainer strap? I've tried once or twice in cleaning, and it just didn't seem to want to come out. I'd be interested in knowing your technique.

By the way, the purist in me is absolutely cringing at what you've done... but it's a big ocean, and we can all dive our own way. :)
