I've been going through many prescriptions lately so I've been watching for money savings more than ever. Today my PA gave me a script for 14 - 500 mg Ciprofloxacin, aka Cipro. I asked Google how much I should expect to pay: $18.81 – $26.19
Prices, Coupons & Patient Assistance Programs - Drugs.com says $14.80 – $28.04. Come on now. There should not be a 100% variance in prices. Maybe pharmacies should be required to make their prices more readily available.
https://rx.webmd.com/drug-prices offers discount coupons, but some are not impressive: $6.25 to $23.25. A 272% variance?! At least the site does tell you which major pharmacies are charging what.
GoodRx - Error has a good reputation so I checked there for discounts from stores less than a half-hour drive away: $15.34 was the best.
I do try to support my farm town businesses, I really didn't like the idea of an hour of driving roundtrip, and I knew about the special program my small-town clinic recently forged with the local pharmacy so I asked her to just send the script over there. $2.46!
I don't know how they managed to establish such a local program, but it's worked on many scripts for me lately.
