I raced out to the Redondo Barge after work this afternoon with Merry Passage and Margaret Webb as my buddies. Well, they were until I saw a large egg yolk jelly, Phacellophora Camtschatica. I tried to get decent shots despite the bioclutter in the water. I drifted with the jelly for a few minutes until I realized I was on the cement blocks and pier pilings rather than the barge. I looked around for a few minutes and decided to make the best of it. The visibility wasn't bad, but it was difficult to get wide angle shots on the reef. MaggieD and Merry made it to the barge, where they found more jellies stuck on gorgonians.
Once we were all back onboard I spotted a jelly on the surface. Merry took shots of it. Hopefully she will post them.

Nice shots, I've been seeing all sorts of pelagic critters recently but never stopped to try to get a pic.

2 skilled female underwater-photographer's on a private vessel all to yourself :) Heaven on earth.
6, 7, & 8 of your series is gorgeous, really nailed the lighting. Merry's first shot is stunning as well. Got to love the photogenic Jellies.
Charlie and I just finished another Long Point dive, report to come later today.

Wow...VERY cool! Reminding me how frustrating it is to have been forced to be dry for so long. Thanks for sharing, so I can at least live vicariously until I can get back in the water!
