I have an old Aeris Atmos II wrist mount dive computer I use for a backup. I have had it for over 6 years and over 300 dives on it. In the last year or so I have had times when during the dive I saw that it was back to Air. I would note this because it was giving a lower NDL than my Sunnto which is usually much more conservative. The first couple times I thought I had just forgot to set it. But the last couple of dives I was super careful about setting it to Nitrox and the correct mix and waiting to almost dive time to set it.
My question is two fold.
1. How long after setting to Nitrox, but not starting the dive, will the Aeris hold the setting? If dive one is Nitrox it holds the setting for dive 2.
2. Assuming that this is a computer problem it sounds like it is not recoverable problem. Correct?
PS: I like the way the buttons work on the Aeris more than the Suunto so I prefer using its log. I also like having both conservative and less conservative data available for decision making.
