I've finally found a somewhat kludgy fix for an issue with the Aeris and Oceanic software. With either one, in all versions I could find, the labels in the Dives Graph window appeared black-on-black. (They were actually black on near-black, as I found once when tilting an LCD display - I was just barely able to read them.) All the actual data was displayed properly. I just couldn't tell what the fields were since the labels were not visible. If you're not sure if you have this problem, you don't - it's glaringly obvious when you try to look at the graph of a dive.

The solution is not to use the "Silver" color scheme in Windows.* As far as I can tell, the theme used does not make any difference, nor does selection of colors in the Advanced Appearance dialog. The other two choices, "Default (Blue)" and "Olive Green" work just fine. The color scheme basically changes the color of the title bars in Windows and not much else. Obviously, if you're not a fan of the "Silver" color scheme, you've probably never seen this problem in the first place. Since I am, I ran into it trying 4 different versions of the software (2 versions each of the Aeris and Oceanic flavors) on 3 different computers because I was using the same color scheme (in different themes) on each!

*Right-click the desktop, select "Properties", choose the "Appearance" tab. "Color Scheme" is the middle of the three dialogs.

Yup, just like I had suggested in post #20 here: http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=86142&page=2

Same thing happened to my friends computer when using this software, so when you mentioned it I knew exactly what was going on. It would be nice if running it in compatibility mode fixed it, but it doesn't help.

It's not a kludgy fix, this is a problem with the software. It's very old and was written before Windows had a lot of these new features. Hopefully they come up with an updated version, but I have switched to Scubase so it's not bugging me anymore.

Sorry about the duplication. I'd spent about a week scouring the board, running searches, etc. without finding that. I agree that it's a stupid software problem.
