I was looking at Scuba Toys Deal of the Year for an entry level regulator set up. It includes: Aeris A1 Reg, Mares Viper Octo, and a Tusa SCA 230 2 gauge console all for $300. How is this set up for a starting rec diver? No diving to extreme depth or in cold water, just local diving here in Texas and warm eater vacation destinations. Here's a link.

That is not a bad price for a starter set. A piston reg set for reliability, a pretty streamlined viper, and gauge console included. You will enjoy it as your first set and many years to come. The only problem you may have is that if your LDS only service one brand, say either Aeris or Mares, then you'll need to find another shop to service the other brand. A little inconvenience when you have a mix of brands in your set when annual service come up or when you travel abroad when services are needed. Otherwise it's a good start.

one of our LDS is having a grand reopening and is supposed to be offering some great deals on aeris equipment....i hope they have something close to this.
