Well, don't eat at Oops. They over grilled my tuna which might be easy to do but then I remember I prefer tuna raw. Sorry, can't remember the place I ate at that was nice but it may depend a bit on what you order. The place I liked had one of those coral grouper that was nice and moist with grilled veggies and rice. Trudy's was good for budget breakfast and lunch.

If you eat at the Filipino food grills there are two of them just West of number 68 on my map on the South side of the road.

The key to the map is HERE

i'll have this one printed... thanks!!!

Somewhat on topic...

A fellow diver who was born in the Philippines but currently lives in Canada told me that during his last trip, he was advised by a resort owner to be wary of the seafood in certain areas. Apparently formaldehyde is used to extend the shelf life of raw seafood. Anyone care to add anything further to this?

stupididty is a sin... i forgot my diving log book (i'll be flying straight from my shift). i hope genesis divers or any shop there sells one... errr

You can smell formaldehyde, so I really think this is urban legend. I eat tons of fish there, never a problem.

However, my filipino friends do warn me that beef is suspect. It can be from cut from animals that died, were not slaughtered. Their term is "dead fall". In the US, that carcass is condemned, used maybe for dog food, but not human consumption. In the Phils, it's illegal to sell for human consumption, but happens. Eat fish, chicken and pork, it's a lot safer.

Lost Horizon is my favorite. It's on the beach and the food is great, not too expensive. Most of the dive shops have cheap dive logs, you're not the first to need one.

As for accomodations, I stay at Alonaland, cheap and good. Get a kitchenette, save a bundle on meals. Rent a bike and get fresh food at the village market. I've done this on many trips, it's so fun to cook your own fresh fish and eat it on the porch. I like to use their barbecue for fish too. mmmmm.....

I'll be in the Phils July 10-29, can't wait!!
