Scubapro make the best regulators. Atomic make better regulators.
Flip it around, the two guys that started Atomic were engineers that left Scubapro to design and build a better regulator.

Don't overlook the used market either. There are great regulators to be had that have hardly any use.

For the cost of a service you could have a like new regulator for a fraction of new.

I have nothing against used gear. I purchased a lot of it but I don't think it is the best strategy for someone just starting out unless he has a more experienced diver that knows what he is looking at and what the price will be helping him. There are too many under $ 200 deals from Hollis, Hog, and Dive Rite. IMHO it is not worth the risk. The only exception would be if you purchased the gear from a dealer already rebuilt or from someone trustworthy that would give the newbie the straight scoop on the condition. For example Leisurepro sells used and I believe they are already rebuilt and come with a 30 day return policy.
