Does anyone know of adult beginer swiming lessons? I have several friends and my daughter who never learned to swim and would like to get them in the water.

I know a lot of YMCAs have adult beginner swim classes.

Most YMCA have them as well as YWCA. You might find that the YW costs a lot more per class not to mention having to join. The YM you don't have to join, at least not here, and I think it ended up being $3 per class for my GF to take hers last year.
One good/bad thing about the local YM was that they had no set schedule as to what you would learn in that time period. So you had one person learning to float while the others were more advanced. It just takes time away from the begining people.

Thanks for the info, I'll look into it.

Even if you can swim it is still worth it to take a class. I had not taken a class in _many_ years. I think I was 8 or 10 when I took my last class. But I signed up for a class at the local YMCA and the instructor was a Russian guy about 30 who was a former world class competitive swimmer in Rusia. It turns out what I learned as a kid was "simplified" down to kids level. A good swimmig couch will point out a lot of little details that really help. These details are to much for kids to remember so the teachers skip them but as an adult they can just shovel them at you then you can practice on your own. Expenve at $160 for 6 weeks but worth it.

The local public pools has less expensive summer programs but have larger groups, less flexible schedule and instructior with lesser experiance.
