Has anybody added shoulder pads to their BP harness? If so, have you used anything other than ones specifically made for harnesses? Did they make your BP more comfortable?

You get the pad from McMaster.com. As I remember, it it about $10 each. Therefore, there isn't much price difference with some eBay deals (OMS) from Hong-Kong.

Hi nkw5
Yes I have added shoulder pads to mine.
But not the type made for my harness.
I had a shoulder injury.
I use a back plate and harness.
With the 2 inch strap over my shoulder.
I would loose the feeling in my fingers within 30 seconds after the kit was on my back.
I have a set of 120 hp. steel tanks twinned together.
Giving up the tanks were not an option.
So I went out and got a used set of football shoulder pads.
I cut off the shoulder extensions and rivited the pads under my straps.
I now have 2 inches of padding on my shoulders.
I can now jump around on land without a problem.
I have been using them for the past 5 years, and have been diving every weekend.
so far they have been working well and still in good shape.
hope this helps

I use a pair on my harness. They come in handy when I dive without a wetsuit and feel better when I use my 1mm suit.
