Hey there, I'm an instructor down in Busan hows things?

Just a quick correction first, the aquarium dives are timed based on air consumption, when I did it it lasted 45 minutes.

I understand your situation, when I do DSD pool sessions they are just for preparation for the ocean but if you want to make them fun activities in themselves then what you have listed is already in practice quite alot.

With the balls (pingpong balls are better) do not make it a race or timed activity as it is encouraging divers to move faster than they should underwater, just do relays then around the pool, as well as being fun watch the diver for general bouyancy and other technique like straight legs etc and comment on it afterwards. i like using the balls in DSD's as when the diver has something else to focus on they generally become better underwater as they are not thinking so hard about the act of diving and the natural behaviour takes over.

something I have found that newbeis like is trying to stand on their heads so making the most of the weightlessness it's fun for people to do and for people to watch as you have to remember that this is their forst time underwater when they can do this stuff.

If you can get a camera, having a photo on facebook in scuba gear generally makes lots of peoples day even if it is in a pool.

Toypedos are ace, everyone loves them, if you get one then instead of throwing them direct at the student, deliberatly throw them away from them so they have to manouvour underwater, fun is great but if you can make it beneficial too then do so, again it gives you something to talk to them about afterwards. I have tried finding a toypedo in Korea but no joy, I contacted trident as they supply them but got a blank from their distributors most likely because i wrote to them in english. we have a friend going to DEMA soon so they are gonna pick one up for us but if you do find a supplier here then please let me know.

Good luck man, if you're ever down Busan way or think I can help you out with anything from down here then just drop me a line, do you work for DBQ?

Drew
