Hi!

I'm looking for an active dive charter out of New York, I know Jeanne II used to operate out of BK, but I can't find anything about their '14 season and it seems like its captain (and operation?) retired.

Looking for anything that's somewhat accessible by train and dives wrecks in the region (e.g. Stolt Dagali, Algol).

All of the stores I find on Google only seem to promote warm water diving in the Caribbean/MX.

There are lots around Nassau and Suffolk- Garloo, Wahoo, Sea Turtle, Aqua Explorer, Tempest and Sea Hawk.

Brooklyn Karen II and the Bronx Defiance are all left that are NYC based.

Jeannie has been sold and is supposedly working on TappanZee bridge construction site on the Hudson.
We have booked the entire boat, Tempest, out of Freeport LI, on quite a regular schedule for Scuba NY Yonkers. There are no boats accessible as far as I know by any form of mass transit.
price of fuel, lack of experienced local divers have all contributed to this problem.
I suggest that perhaps you GOOGLE Eastern dive boat association and see what you can come up with.

Karen is out of business , it's Capt is retired and is not keeping his license. The Defiance , which I was at one time the owner, has been long gone for years. Still listed on EDBA site, no long exists, as others listed are as well. Wahoo is not around, it is now the Garloo.

you need a car.
As far as I know the NY boats are: Sea Hawk & Tempest (Freeport), Wreck Valley (Baldwin) Garloo (Captree), Sidekick (Moriches), Bottom Time (Shinnicock), Sea Turtle (Montauk).
All except the Sea Hawk and Garloo are 6 packs.
There may be a boat or two on north shore but I am not familiar with any.
There are boats out of NJ, I am not familiar with what ones there are except the Independence.

In NJ, there are a couple experienced dive boats in Belmar that run "open boat" trips. The NJ Transit train stop in Belmar is across the street from the marina. I can't imagine bringing all your gear and tanks on a train from NYC, that would be quite a trip. Maybe rent a zipcar?

Check out the dive boats "Old Salty," and "Venture 3." Maybe you could find someone from the NYC area with a car you could hitch a ride with.
