At my work i know a dude, whos mate died during diving, they had to put those massive steel plates in the hole, and due to the fast current at the seafloor, rocks were rolling, and one of those rocks has hit the plate, causing it to fall, so basicly it has squashed the guy. so im asking you people, is this thing quite common??? :06:

Well, I have never heard about it! Doesn't sound at all common to me, it sounds like a freak accident.

It sounds like an accident by a commerical diver while working. Commercial diving and recreational/sport diving a two different beasts.

That is not a common accident. It does sound like commercial diving.

Never heard of it before. Also, sounds like the poor guy was working- which points to commercial diving. Commercial diving has its' own specific hazards as well as all the rest that the rec & tech community deal with.
