I've read that approximately 90 divers die annually around the world in accidents. Is this an accurate indication and if so, what are the approximate figures for recreational dives (OW & AOW), technical (deep, caves etc) and commercial? Thanks.

I believe DAN have reported that the annual diving fatalities in the US was averaged around 83 (this stat may be a few years old). Being one of the more safety conscious countries, I reckon your figure is way, way, way below the worldwide rate.

If you are a DAN member... you can download their annual report on diving fatalities.

Unless you're a DAN Japan member :shakehead:

Here's a direct link to the current report.
Try that.
