There's the
Gold Museum-Museo de Oro
Erotic Museum-old ceramics-erotic chifa mugs, pretty interesting
Inquisition Museum-I had a friend get me in, in the early 80's there was a denial that it existed. She raised hell with the librarian and she unlocked a door and down we went into a cellar lit by bare bulbs. I think they now have a real display. When I was there they had sheets knotted to show human form in the torture implements.
Miraflores is a great place to wander with some good restaurants
Try a Pisco Sour at the Maury Hotel
This was my basic spanish for quite a few years
Donde esta el baño?
Cerveza Fria
Arroz con Pollo
When I try to pronounce spanish words, locals that speak no english try to talk to me in english, I hurt their ears. When I ask a question in spanish and they reply in spanish I have no idea of what they are saying.
I finally found a solution, the Berlitz phrase book, I don't try to say the phrases, I just point to the phrase, the local thumbs through the book and points at the appropriate reply.
One little tip, carry your own TP in your pack. The local stuff is like 6x6 inch squares of wax paper.
Settle on the taxi fare ahead of time. Offer a third, if you're a tourist and you settle on half the original price, you're probably paying double what a local pays but it's still cheap.
They have some fantastic blankets, Alpaca blanket anyone, work on the prices, start at half. They are bulky if you're travelling by air.
