Greetings,

I was just advised by AA that commencing April 30, service to Bonaire ends on the Eagle from SJU. I do NOT know if and when service will be reinstated. Please call AA immediately to arrange other travel plans. Here are the options presently available:

CO Friday night Houston to Bonaire
CO Sat. night Newark to BON
Delta Sat. from ATL
Delta Sat. from JFK (seasonal)
Insel Miami to Curacao and then on to Bonaire
AA Miami to Curacao and then DAE to Bonaire

thats not good.May increase cost on other providers.I have a group going in May..would you believe that the difference of going a week earlier is $364. to what we are paying $499...CO flight out of Newark.

Yup.
We arrive in Bonaire just before they stop service. Basically we now have a oneway trip (I wish I had the luxury of never leaving Bonaire!). I still have my San Juan to Boston flight. Anyone know who services San Juan directly from Bonaire?

Thanks

It is very hard to understand AA's policy in the Caribbean. We used to have 10 flights a day between BVI and San Juan, and they were all packed. It was a hugely lucrative route for them. Then they suddenly cut it back to just 3 a day. Now unless you book months in advance you cannot get a spot.

The BVI govt asked for an official explanation and they were told because of the rising cost of fuel, they had to relocate the aircraft to Minnesota to replace less fuel efficient aircraft up there. But now that the price of fuel has crashed, they are in no hurry to bring them back down.

We are waiting an "official" release from here on Bonaire. I will let you know something as soon as I hear.

I was really looking forward to my annual Bonaire trip this June but, I received my cancellation of flight notice today. I shouldn't be surprised as I've had cancellations, delays and lost luggage with all airlines that service bonaire. I've already cancelled my resort reservations and I guess I'll put my scubabucks someplace else.

Working for AA myself this is very disappointing. Never will figure out our flight changes.

Hey, irony - we have just been restored to a whopping 7 flights a day in the BVI. I guess we stole your planes... ?
