NightRaven,

In terms of Memory Cards...ask CompuDude. He's got the mantra down.

It goes something like this: "SanDisk, Lexar, Kinston, Crucial...SanDisk, Lexar, Kinston, Crucial...SanDisk, Lexar, Kinston, Crucial" Repeat ad nauseum.

Seriously, though. My A620 has "eaten" two 1 GB hi-speed cards. Both by the same manufacturer...pqi. So AVOID them. It ate the first one...so I returned it and got another one. Ate that one too. Canon wrote back to me and said it was likely a manufacturer problem, as none of my other cards had a problem. I have tried three or four other cards, no problem. pqi didn't respond to my e-mail.

Thanks. Make sure you post your pictures when you get in the water. I got lots of great pointers from folks here about my pictures, and they have improved a lot because of that.

And if you're not already in the club, welcome to the addiction. Start saving now for your strobe, etc.

Hey, not a bad choice. Look at the Consumer's Report for July on Digital cameras. #1 in the compact digital cameras = Cannon A620!!!

You better hurry and get one.
I'm hearing about a rumour on some digital photography forums, that Canon has or will soon be discontinuing production of the Canon A610/A620!!!

Oh man, I better get a backup body while the going's good!

I just buy my cards from tigerdirect.com. They have a 1 gig for 10 bucks after a rebate. I have two of these and they don't seem to be slower or less reliable than any of the higher priced ones I have purchased in the past. I do love the a620! Great camera for the price!! Can now be found for under 300 since it is going bye bye soon. I have seen the a610 for less than 250 too.

I bought my A610 for $200 back in December.

Oooof, can't believe that Canon is discontinuing it, guess they aren't making enough money on it.

Ok...

just bought a 4 gig card from zipzoomfly.com....for about $89....150 write speed...that will be my primary card to use...then Im going with a 2 gig as a backup...

Buying an Ikelite housing...and looking for a effective wide angle lense to go on it....

I have never used a wide angle lense before....any ideas as to what will fit the Ikelite housing for the A620???

You guys are gonna make me broke....

Wow, please say that they're not discontinuing it! Everyone that I've shown my A620 to is just amazed... In my last post I mentioned that you could "supposedly" isolate individual frames from the movie mode using ZoomBrowser EX software supplied with the camera. Well, I went and did it and it couldn't be easier! For those of you that may want to delve into this more, you can get an expanded PDF-format ZoomBrowser EX Software User Guide by going to: http://web.canon.jp/Imaging/information-e.html
This address is also listed on page 2 of the supplied software starter guide manual.
Warmest Regards to all -- Mach

FWIW digital cameras are "discontinued" at least once or twice a year, it seems. Nothing you buy now will be around in a year...so they would have you believe. There are lots of places that still have back stock and you can usually find your model on ebay etc.

The digital world moves fast...it's why I bit the bullet and bought a backup body for my Oly 5050 right away...I was already late to the camera and thought I'd have less hassles to simply have one! If you adore the 620 you might want to grab a backup unless you are prepared to buy a new housing in the future, too, as it likely won't fit the new models when they are released.

NR - did you have good luck with zipzoomfly? I just had a terrible experience with them and frankly would rather pay twice as much to some other company than deal with them again.

Well...

I just place the order on June 8th....I will let you know here when the package arrives....My camera will be coming next week along with my housing...

More updates to come....

Just getting geared up for Bonaire in July!!

yipppee!!
